Overview
Four days is just enough to feel both of Zanzibar’s moods: the carved doors, rooftop cafés and slow afternoons of Stone Town, and the soft white sand and turquoise water of the north coast. It works beautifully on its own, or as the barefoot finale to a safari or a climb.
We take care of the transfers, boats and guides so you can switch off. Walk the old town with a local guide, meet giant tortoises that have lived for more than a century, taste cloves and cinnamon straight from the plant, snorkel over the coral off Mnemba Atoll and watch the sun go down from the deck of a dhow.
Our driver meets you at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport or the ferry port and takes you to your hotel in Stone Town. Late in the afternoon, set out with a local guide through the UNESCO-listed old town — past the Old Fort, the seafront and its famous carved doors — ending at Forodhani Gardens as the evening food stalls light up.

A short boat ride brings you to Changuu, better known as Prison Island, home to a colony of Aldabra giant tortoises. After lunch, visit a spice farm in the countryside to see, smell and taste cloves, nutmeg, vanilla and lemongrass, then continue north to your beach hotel in Nungwi.

Head out by boat to the protected reefs around Mnemba Atoll, where the water is some of the clearest around the island. Snorkel among parrotfish and starfish and, with luck, green turtles and dolphins. Back on shore, step aboard a traditional dhow for a sunset sail along the Nungwi coast.

On the way to the airport, stop at Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park to walk beneath mahogany trees and watch the Zanzibar red colobus, a monkey found nowhere else on Earth. A boardwalk through the mangroves rounds off the visit before your transfer for the flight home.
