Overview
Three days is enough to meet two of the finest places in northern Tanzania. The first belongs to Tarangire — elephant herds, ancient baobabs and a river that pulls in every animal for miles around. The second is the Ngorongoro Crater, where a whole ecosystem sits inside a collapsed volcano.
You travel in a private vehicle with your own guide, so the pace is yours to set. It works as a short trip in its own right, as a first safari, or as the wild half of a longer stay.

A morning pick-up from your hotel in Arusha and a short safari briefing, then two and a half to three hours on the road to Tarangire National Park. Your game drive starts the moment you pass the gate, through baobab country and along the river, with lunch in the park. Late in the afternoon you leave for your lodge or tented camp.

After breakfast you drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend the crater wall for a full day on the floor. Grassland, wetland, forest and a soda lake hold a remarkable amount of life in a small space: buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, hippo, hyena, lion and, with luck, black rhino. Picnic lunch at a designated spot, then back up the rim in the afternoon.
