Overview
The same three parks as the four-day route, with an extra night in the Serengeti — and that night changes the trip. A whole day on the plains means you can follow a pride rather than pass it, wait out a hunt, and be in the right place at dawn and at dusk.
Days run from Arusha through Tarangire to the Serengeti, then back east over the highlands for the Ngorongoro Crater. Your guide reads the conditions each morning and picks the area to explore.
Destinations Visited
Roughly 120 km and two to three hours from Arusha, depending on where you start and the state of the road. You meet your guide after breakfast and spend the rest of the day on a game drive in Tarangire, known for its elephants, its baobabs and the wildlife that gathers around its water.

A long, beautiful drive west, with the country opening out as you approach the Serengeti. Your first game drive across the plains begins as soon as you are through the gate and carries on towards camp.

The whole day is yours in the park. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, gazelle and a long list of birds are all possible, depending on the season and where the herds have moved. Picnic lunch out in the park, then an afternoon drive as the light softens.

An early breakfast and a final Serengeti game drive before you head east towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. There is usually time for a scenic stop on the way. You arrive in the afternoon and spend the rest of it at leisure in the cooler highlands.
