Overview
Our longest pure-safari route, and the one that gives every place its due: two nights in the Serengeti with a full day on the plains, and a whole day inside the Ngorongoro Crater rather than a morning.
From the rainforest of the crater rim to the baobabs of Tarangire and the open grassland of the Serengeti, the landscape changes almost daily. Nights are in lodges or tented camps chosen for where they sit.
Destinations Visited
Your guide meets you in Arusha in the morning for a briefing, then it is roughly 120 km to Tarangire National Park. A full day of game driving follows, through elephant country and baobab groves, with a picnic lunch in the park and dinner at your lodge or camp.

After breakfast you leave Tarangire for the Serengeti. The country flattens and widens as you go, and once inside the park your game drive begins, taking you through some of the most recognisable landscape in Africa on the way to camp.

A full day out on the plains. Your guide follows the wildlife activity rather than a fixed route, so the day might be spent with lions, at a waterhole, or among the herds. Picnic lunch in the park, and a quieter afternoon that is often the best time for photographs.

An early game drive, then the long climb east into the Ngorongoro highlands, with stops where the wildlife, the scenery or the timing make them worthwhile. You arrive at your lodge in the afternoon with the rest of the day free.

An early breakfast and then down into the crater for the day. Lions, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, hippo, elephant and, with luck, rhino live on the floor, alongside flamingos on the soda lake. Picnic lunch at a designated spot, then the drive back up in the afternoon.

After breakfast you start back towards Arusha. Depending on your departure time there may be room for a scenic stop or a short cultural visit on the way. You arrive in Arusha in the afternoon, and we can arrange an airport transfer for an evening flight.
